Painting
Follow up on painting estimates while the walkthrough is fresh
Paint bids stall on color, on whether the garage door is included, and on “we’ll decide this weekend.” A short email while they remember the visit is easier than starting over next month.
Where the estimate stalls
The scope was verbal
You talked through trim, ceilings, and what you’re not painting. The follow-up is where you repeat one concrete line so they don’t have to reread the whole estimate.
Color choices drag the decision out
Offer to adjust the scope. Don’t send a new sales pitch. Ask which part they want to keep.
Weather and calendars slip
Exterior work depends on a window of decent days. Asking which week is real is a better second email than another copy of the price.

Your exterior paint estimate
Hi James, Thanks for walking the house today. The estimate is $6,450 for the siding, trim, and garage door we looked at. I left the deck out. Reply if you want the deck added. Thanks, Mike Chen Harbor Painting

Checking in on the paint estimate
Hi James, Have you had a chance to look at the exterior paint estimate for $6,450? If the garage door should come off the scope, I can send a revised number. Thanks, Mike Chen Harbor Painting

Last note on your paint estimate
Hi James, I’ll close the exterior paint estimate for $6,450 unless I hear back. If you went with someone else, I hope the job goes well. If you still want it, reply and I’ll look at dates. Thanks, Mike Chen Harbor Painting
How QuoteLasso helps
- Add the customer, email, amount, and job. You can type it in, forward the estimate, or import a spreadsheet.
- The default schedule is 2, 5, and 10 days. Day 10 is the last email. You see the dates before you save, and you can change them.
- The first check-in, the second reminder, and the final follow-up each have their own wording. The customer sees your business name and the address followups@quotelasso.com.
- During the 14-day Starter trial, due follow-ups send on their own. Turn that off in Settings and nothing goes out until you press Send.
- After the trial, the Free plan stays manual. Starter ($79/month) and Pro ($149/month) turn automatic sending back on.
- When a customer replies, the rest of the follow-ups stop. Every email has a link to unsubscribe.
Questions
Should the follow-up repeat the whole scope?
No. Name the job, the amount, and one detail they might be unsure about. The estimate already has the rest.
What if they only asked for an interior price?
Follow up on that room list. Don’t add exterior, cabinets, or a discount they didn’t ask for unless you’re actually offering it.
Can I use the same email for every painter’s follow-up?
You can start from one template. In QuoteLasso, the first check-in, the second reminder, and the final follow-up each have their own wording. The customer sees your business name and the address followups@quotelasso.com.

Add one estimate. QuoteLasso shows you when the follow-ups are due and drafts the email in your words.
