The line you can remove

A smaller version leaves out a roof over the deck, and skirting. The full $11,800 price includes new footings, a ledger flashed to the house, and composite boards on the same footprint.

What you will not do

Footings and the ledger are the structure. A resurface over a soft frame is the cheaper bid and the wrong one. Do not screw new boards onto joists that are already soft.
