Why the number is the number
Haul-away and thickness are the cost. A thinner slab is the cheaper bid and the one that cracks. The bid includes removal of the old slab, a new driveway at the thickness we specced, and broom finish.

The line you can remove is a sealer, and the city approach if the apron is in the right of way. Do not thin the slab to win the follow-up. Concrete bids stall on the tear-out, because the new slab price looks high until the old one is hauled away.
