What the calendar really depends on

Mortar does not cure in a freeze. If the wall is wet now, say what can be done before winter and what should wait.

If they need longer

Masonry bids wait because the work looks optional until water gets in, and a second mason's number is usually coming. A partner who has not stood at the wall often thinks tuckpointing and rebuilding are the same price. Do not smear new mortar over failed joints and call it repointing.
