Why the number is the number
Paint-grade is a smooth box your painter finishes. Stain-grade is the lumber and a finish I do. The bid includes paint-grade built-ins on the wall we measured, installed and ready for your painter.
What you can take out
The line you can remove is stain-grade wood, and the paint itself. Do not start a stain-grade build on a paint-grade deposit. Carpentry estimates wait on paint-grade versus stain-grade, because that choice changes the wood and the price.
